MARISOL CAVIA

Marisol Cavia was born in Spain, and has been living and working in London since 1973. She studied Languages at the School of Commerce in Bilbao and later embarked on her interest in Art and studied Drawing and Sculpture at the School of Liberal Arts in Surrey. She holds a BA (Hons) in Ceramics from the University of Westminster.

Marisol has taken part in numerous exhibitions, both in museums and private galleries, in England, Spain, Germany, Italy and the USA. She works in a variety of mediums such as installations, sculpture, photography, video and performance. She was also the cofounder of the Spanish Artists in London group and has curated numerous exhibitions in England and Spain. When London Biennale of Art was active under the direction of David Medalla, Marisol was part of the artistic organisation of the events and pollinations.

Her work reflects a passion for life, exploring themes such as love, death, friendship and infidelity. She loves working with the public and hundreds of people have participated in some of her installations.

Marisol Cavia nació en Ciudad Rodrigo, Salamanca y se crió en Laredo, Cantabria.  En 1973 se traslado a Londres donde ha vivido 37 años. Estudió Idiomas en la Escuela de Comercio de Bilbao y dibujo y escultura en la Escuela de Artes Liberales en Surrey. Es licenciada en Bellas Artes por la Universidad de Westminster, en la especialidad de cerámica.

 

Marisol ha participado en numerosas exposiciones en museos y galerías privadas en Inglaterra, España, Alemania, Italia y los Estados Unidos. Trabaja en una gran variedad de medios como instalación, escultura, fotografía, vídeo y performance; es cofundadora del grupo Spanish Artists in London (SAL) y ha comisariado varias exposiciones en Inglaterra y España.  Durante diez años formo parte de la organización artística de la London Biennale y sus Polinations. 

 

Su obra artística refleja su pasión por la vida, explorando temas cotidianos tales como el amor, la muerte, la amistad y la infidelidad, entre otros. Le gusta trabajar con el público y a veces más de cien personas han participado en sus instalaciones.
