London Bridge Lake Havasu June
2006
These are the initial shots of the action
at London Bridge Lake Havasu. Youll see in
the last pic the police car with the cops
with their guns pointing at me. They
the pieces at the end of the sequence at
the base of the bridge, and wanted to
confiscate Simon Bendis flag which was
opened for inspection. The stapled and
glued omega and Ace of Spades were ripped
from the flag and thrown on the sidewalk.
This,a flag,which I hadntunfurled yet-and
quite obviously couldnt.
So at gun point, they were going to arrest
me until I reassured them through the
tattered pieces I had left that I had been
representing a group of international artists
from The London Biennale 2006 pictured and
taped to the banner, and had made a special
trip to Lake Havasu to do this event.Under
this consideration,the banner was destroyed
and my passport was demanded for my details
for a check.
After a debate of a yellow book fine, the
guns were holstered and I was left to walk
away in 47C heat. The flag, afterall, had
been and was unfurled, and with the help of
my mother reassembled in Las Vegas, which
Ive rephotographed with the mualed original
assemblage.
I have to give this one to Andrew Reyner
who not o nly drove us there, and documented
the action, but for his level headedness and
for being such a good mate, and ofcourse to
all artists worldwide who contributed to
this event.
Cheers Adam
